February is known throughout the United States as Black History Month.

Honor those special persons you love or admire and/or those persons who have been the most influential in your life and share with us, your most amazing Black American. Perhaps they are persons whose names we know or maybe they are unknown to us, what makes them special to you?

Share with the BluButterfli in honoring and celebrating the memory of many Black Americans who have made a tremendous impact on our freedom, culture, education, entertainment, athletics, and our history. Those magnificent men and women who have influenced us socially, politically, religiously, economically, corporately, culturally, and athletically, all who have all made personal sacrifices for us...

What are you doing to help Haiti?

Almost two weeks ago we learned of the tragic news of the earthquake that effected Haiti to devastation. All across the world our hearts felt their pain and anguish as they scrambled for what ever they could find left of their lives, as we watched the many hundreds of babies left as orphans.

Many immediate efforts have been established to offer aid to people of Haiti- water, food, and most importantly medical supplies.

Have you thought of what you can do to help?
Many relief efforts are being presented on television, radio, colleges/universities, churches, have you chosen a way in which you can help?

Haiti will be in transition for many years to come. I guess the question then becomes do I help now or later? How can I help when I have very little to give and my daily struggles appear devastating to me? Am I taking things here in the United States for granted? Can I share my extra or leftovers? Am I appreciating life differently now? Would people across the globe come to my aid as they are for the Haitians? THOUGHTS........

Even if you are only able to say a prayer, you have done something...
If you are able to share your resources, time, talent....it is something.

Some of us feel we are ONE people made by the same Creator/God...why not make better efforts to help your brother or sister.

Let us continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers...much work must be done to help them rebuild and restore...The most hopeful thing we have seen from them is their renewing spirit as they continue to gather for worship, their humility, and their thankfulness for the help, healing, and hope.

They have not lost hope why should we?

HAPPY HOLIDAYS- Are you happy?

Now that the holiday season is here, the Blu Butterfli was wondering if you felt happy. Do you already have your holiday plans? Have you made your gifts of love purchases or completed your projects? Is your home decorated and festive? Are you planning for the new year? Do you feel a giddy burst of laughter due to the excitement this season brings? If NO, why not?
What is causing you not to feel your happiest? What is inhibiting you from identifying creative ways to prepare for this holiday season? What is happening that you wait until the end of the month to make your plans, if at all? Is it due to your lack of resources or is it all dependant upon how you feel? If it solely based on how you feel- what are you planning to do about this "feeling" of unhappiness? how are you planning to change the feeling of unhappiness and hopelessness? Do you want to change it?

HAVE A HEALTHY NEW CHANGE IN YOUR LOVE LIFE WITH YOU!!

We have been influenced over the last few months with concepts, thoughts, slogans, expectations, dreams, and hopes of CHANGE- not just for our nation, but in our communities, families, and within ourselves. It is obvious to some people that CHANGE is what we desperately need to produce different outcomes and that our CHANGE requires a collective effort.

We believe that some of President Barack Obama's presidential success was greatly attributed to his love for God, his love for his family, and his love for man. His eloquent remarks assisted us in believing that we all "mattered" as it initiated feelings value, respect, for all persons. It was exciting to see our younger generation joining in the electoral processes aggressively, feeling they too have a voice.

We celebrated a couple of weeks ago with great jubilation and a sense of freedom, being able to finally "exhale", since we had been waiting for so long. Now is our time to embrace this hidden CHANGE or new found CHANGE with the influence of love.

Love is really what makes the world go around. Love is what heals relationships, gives us patience, allows us to help our brothers & sisters; it allows us to simply care. Love has no color.
But as we individually embark on the excitement of CHANGE, are we truly loving ourselves to the fullest? Are we able to move from behind our past hurts and disallow it to remain in our present? Can we finally exhibit a forgiving heart and open ourselves to the diversity of man and embrace our differences? Do we truly understand that - -YES WE CAN?

During this Black History Month and Love Month, let us share a little more love.
